You could not find a more parodic Canadian solution than adding taxes. Gary Mason— who lives in a province with a 12 percent HST and $1.60/ litre oil— seems to believe that the clever solution is to hit up the private sector and citizens for the money to balance the budget. It’s touching that earnest types in government think they’ll get mentally ill people to forgo purchasing a gun when they can’t even get mentally ill people to not sleep on the sidewalks. What they’ll discover is that earlier liberal policies stand in the way of their well-meaning plans.

Remember, Kavanaugh was being savaged as a sexual psychopath, a gang rapist, a binge drinker— all of which turned out to be Michael Avenatti libels or third-hand remembrances from decades past or pimped-up yellow journalism from Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker.
