Cory Booker And The One True Faith: Cory Booker
“The righteous shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water / that bringeth forth its fruit in its season / whose leaf also doth not wither / and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-6
The Left is in the thrall of a religious conversion. Not religion as in the Psalms. They dropped that organized church stuff years ago when they took on the job of making every human his/ her own religious cult. With no Sunday service, no priest or rabbi to counsel them on the wisdom of millennia of faith, the woke folk are taking the buffet approach to God. Pick and choose you virtue du jour. Cuz you’re special.
No one is more righteous these days than presidential candidate Cory Booker. Spartacus is currently some pissed with president Donald Trump for giving oxygen to wild-ass theories about the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein. “He’s giving life not just to conspiracy theories,” Cory announced, “but really whipping people up into anger and worse against different people in this country."
Naturally mainstream media are singing from Cory’s hymnbook. The idea that Trump’s cockamamy comments equate to mass murder is dogma for many journos— including Canada’s Daniel Dale who migrated to sinking CNN to catalogue these comments. When they’re done regurgitating the day’s talking point about POTUS 45, you’d swear America was being overtaken by KKK wizards (who, they neglect to say, were all Democrats).
It’s great show biz. But face it, if you’re an average white person in Canada or the U.S. you’re highly unlikely to meet a virulent racist. You can probably squeeze all the Nazis in America into a very small football stadium (FBI estimates 6,000 nationwide). In Canada they’d likely fit into one of those stretch TTC streetcars. But sheltered Toronto boutique liberals or Hollywood toffs see racists everywhere. To them we’re overrun by racists. This allows them to repeat risible claims of “white supremacy” on @CBC and @MSNBC .
What makes this theatrical alarm so amusing is that Cory & Co have no idea that they, too, might be heating up the rhetoric a tad. If you believe that irresponsible public speech sends wackos to their gun cabinets— as Booker and Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris have contended— shouldn’t it cut both ways? Uh… no. You must only condemn Trump’s side.
According to the anti-Trump media in America or Canada, Orange Man ands his ilk “are like the chaff / which the wind driveth away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment / nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.”
After all, nothing that the DEMs presidential candidates said in the recent Democratic debates could be remotely construed as divisive or disturbing, could it? Let’s see what they what soothing policy messages they were imparting to unite America’s voters during the recent DNC debates.
1) Reparations for slavery
2) Decriminalized borders
3) No genders
4) Free tuition
5) $1000 a week free slacker pay
6) Al Sharpton
7) Transgendered in girls showers/ bathrooms
8) Stacking SCOTUS unless it repeals 2nd Amendment
9) Ending Electoral College
10) Cancelling people’s healthcare
11) Imaginary Indians are suitable presidents
Who could get “angry and worse” about that? These were not individual policy positions, BTW. These were consensus opinions for all the major candidates. They even raised their hands to signify they were onboard with some of them.
But, according to Booker, there’s zero chance this Leftish insanity is “really whipping people up into anger and worse”. Can’t be. If these policies were nuts, wouldn’t Jake Tapper or Rachel Maddow tell us so?
Here in Canada, M. Trudeau is trying to convince his fellow citizens that Anodyne Andrew Scheer— the least offensive man alive— sits atop an empire of evil racists, Nazis and white supremicists. That the Conservatives take orders from the ghost of Goebbels. The Toronto Star and the urban elites shout, “Testify, brother!”
Which is where the Left’s prophets like Booker are of such assistance. ( They know that nothing flatters a liberal like appealing to their virtuous self.) Thanks to Cory or Justin Trudeau, all the baddies in your life are conveniently targeted for your social-media wrath. He’s now proposing an investigation into white supremacy if he’s elected POTUS. If you’re an advanced devotee you can graduate to guerrilla guilting, harassing conservatives in restaurants or dousing police with water.
Or if you’re a Google employee you can refuse to do work for the federal government because kids-in-cages and icky fences. Likewise, this halo of virtue allows presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren to refuse to retract her false claim last week that Michael Brown had been "murdered" by police in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014. So it’s okay to take the leap of faith and forget the DOJ’s facts.
It’s just like baptism, except you do it for the approval or Chris Matthews or Heather Mallick. Punching Nazis or trying to ruin someone’s business because they vote conservative has now replaced excommunication as the crusade in modern life. Hating Trump, Scheer, Kid Rock, James Woods and Sean Hannity puts you one short step from the Pearly Gates. Trump Hate® is Godlike in its divinity.
Were this confined to Booker and his hallelujah chorus it might be simply amusing. But the new religion of virtue shaming and ad hoc righteousness has been spread throughout the eduction system and media. Instead of being political quackery, this lunacy has the devotion of many young people who know nothing of traditional faith but everything about Greta Thunberg.
Blessed be the gullible. For they shall have no Gods before Spartacus.
