Biden's Media Exposed: But You Can't Fool All The People All The Time
“You can fool some of the people all of the time. And all of the people some of the time. But you can’t fool all the people all of the time”— Abraham Lincoln
Perhaps the most telling moments after Thursday night’s cataclysmic debate performance by Joe Biden were the panels assembled on MSNBC and CNN looking to assign blame for a performance that’ll likely cost the Democrats the 2024 election should Biden still run. Who was to blame? Who dropped the ball? How can he be replaced in time?
Some said Biden’s handlers were to blame. Others said Democratic Party operatives. Others said it was the medical people treating the 81-year-old dementia sufferer who must answer for the embarrassing spectacle of a sitting president looking like Fireman Bill from In Living Color.
You can understand the desire of the odious “Dr. Jill Biden” and POTUS 45’s staff to hide how bad his health was. Power has that kind of hold on people, especially those grifters like the Biden crime family now making serious money playing the insider game. He will be hard to dislodge with his palace guard in full denial of what’s transpired.
But in the impact of Biden’s incompetence the real loser was the Media Party who rule Washington D.C. After years of telling gullible viewers and readers that Biden’s stoned persona was a Republican construct they were exposed (again) as chancers and liars and reprehensible frauds. "Democracy Dies in Darkness they’d proclaimed. Bullshit.
For years they’d kept their readers and viewers hermetically sealed in a pantomime about Trump’s egregious “lies and disinformation” (Liberal Canada bought into this, too.) Cut off from opposing news or opinions, the half of America and the international press that gets its monolithic message from Jake Tapper & Co trusted in the veracity of Joe’s steady competence and Trump’s treachery.
“Very fine people”. “Bleach inoculations”. “Russian hookers”. “51 intelligence officials”. With no input other than Rachel Maddow or Jeffrey Toobin they swallowed it whole. Even as these tongue bathers buried the truth about Biden’s mental acuity so deep and dark that it reached the earth’s molten core. For the Maddow mob and the Anderson Cooper crowd keeping Biden’s secret was a loyalty oath to stay on the team. It was staying on the A list for the best parties, the juiciest gossip, the best perks of the reporting game, a speaking gig at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Trump’s carny act fed into their narrative. The life-long Democrat (till 2016) worked his audience like a slick salesman, giving the base the red meat they wanted to hear. Like Colonel Sanders he had a formula, and even if he didn’t believe half the stuff he said, he knew he could sell it to get to the White House.
But Thursday night’s reality was the story the Left could not disguise. The entire nation and world (outside Canada’s media) could see without filter the hollow shell of a man, egged on by his wife Lady Macbeth, stumbling to complete a sentence, dazed, lashing out when his carefully curated fables about Putin owning Trump crashed to the floor.
Trump gave him room to maneuver with another bombastic performance. But there was no there there for Biden. Or for his press lackeys, whose legacy media companies’ stock is collapsing after decades for Obama worship. And whose ratings have cratered.
What happened to the hours of Biden water carrying on MSNBC, the huckster reporting of The Washington Post, the theatrical angst of PBS? Hadn’t they staked their reputations on getting the senile Biden to the finish line with stories of his sharp insight, his years of foreign policy? What a laugh it was going to be on all those people who don’t send their kids to Harvard.
They taunted the great unwashed Trump followers. Here’s progressive shill Matt Yglesias just before the debate: “It’s interesting that Joe Biden’s dementia is most visible in deceptively cropped video clips but easily covered up by performance enhancing drugs during high-profile public appearances.” Oops.
Finally exposed, these wind therapists tried diverting the discussion. After a brief panic session in which they confessed that their dream world was imploding, they offered “everyone has a bad night”, he had “a bad cold”, "and, of course, “Trump is a liar”. In the nadir of the evening they began calling the fatuous vice president Kamala Harris (who’s just one arrhythmia away from the presidency) a “hidden asset” to Biden.
And so on. When those gambits failed they returned to the horse race for a presidency that might yet keep them all in work. Who gets to tell Joe it is over? One Democrat “close to Biden” was quoted that it will take “all of the party poobahs like Schumer, Pelosi, Bill Clinton and Obama” to convince him to stand down. Who can wee get to save the wagon train?
As if Biden standing down will rescue their incinerated reputations. Good luck patching it over with the sentencing on Trump’s sham NYC conviction in July. The chum is in the water, and media grandees like Jimmy Kimmel, Steven Colbert and Bill Maher are about to meet the sharks.
